On May 3rd, city officials and staff, the Great River Landing committee, along with Onalaska residents gathered for the Great River Landing official Ground Breaking ceremony. Mayor Joe Chilson spoke to the crowd, “A lot of people worked very hard for this day,” Chilson said, citing “over a decade” of work. “This is going to give us beautiful vistas, a place for our citizens to play, a gateway for visitors to play, and it’s going to spur future activity and future economic development,” the mayor said.
The Great River Landing project will include two roofed structures, a welcome plaza, and adjacent parking. Phase I of the project is set to be completed by mid-December of this year.
